My definition of American dream is that if you try hard enough you can achieve your goal, pursuit happiness and find meaning of your life. However, it is no longer a secret that American dream is more about becoming wealthy instead of focusing on freedom and equalities today. People will consider a person successful if he is driving a Ferrari and lives in a mansion. Most people will believe that if you are rich then you are living a happy life. However, I believe happiness does not always require wealth to achieve. The ideal of freedom, equality and opportunities can still be achieved today. The documentary told us that most people are born with different background and different culture, they are experiencing their track of lives unfairly, some lucky people already way ahead of others that they have much easier lives. But I don’t think that’s the reason for us to stop trying, there are always richer people in the world but improving your life is not about comparing with others, it is about comparing with yourself. If you can make yourself a better future by trying, you are on the way of achieving your own American dream.
