The American dream
is essentially dishonest or not is depending on their people’s social condition,
like social status and asset. For rich people, the AD is pretty honest and
these rich people can easily achieve their American dream by using their money.
However, it is very difficult for poor people to reach their American dream
which means that American dream is essentially dishonest to them, because they
do not have any extra money to “help” themselves achieve their goals. Just like
the Tom in The Great Gatsby, he can easily get anything what he want by using
his own money. When the poor people working hard for find a place to live, he
can enjoy his party in his own extra personal apartment. When the poor people
making living very hard, he can buy a pet dog for another women as much as he
want. When the poor people find it very difficult to get married, Tom can get
another woman after he married Daisy. These rich people like Tom in Park Avenue
also can get and achieve their American dream very easily. They living the most
prosperous and richest part of Park Avenue and they control & occupied more wealth than the 150 million people in the
bottom 50 percent of the population. And they invest government by using
their money. In this way, the government will impose less tax on them and then
they can make more profit. However, the total amount of tax is same, so that
government will impose more tax on poor people. The more taxes were imposed on poor
people, the less capital the poor people can use to achieve their American dream.
Then the American dream become more and more difficult for these poor people. For
is American dream is unattainable for all is also depending on people’s social
condition. For poor people, the American dream is unattainable, because the
reality will destroy them when they approaching their AD.

In your argument, you have stated that the American Dream is absolutely dishonest to the poorer class because of their background and resources, which is a statement I highly agree with.
ReplyDeleteEither in the past few decades or the most recent years, the social status for most of the American is the most critical barrier that could stop them from achieving a higher target or satisfied living condition even though they have tried hard, which absolutely revealed that the American Dream is actually a lie or an unattainable fantasy.
As you mentioned previously, "The richest controlled & occupied more wealth than the 150 million people in the bottom 50 percent of the population." You applied quotes directly from the movie appropriately and you analyzed the facts deeply. In addition, you also used evidences about things occurred around Gatsby to poof how Gatsby acted dishonest. Those evidences made your thesis more practical and convincing.
